About the Project

Foodganik was designed to promote healthy and responsible lifestyle habits in the field of nutrition. This goal is sought through the dissemination of seasonal products in the Spanish market, a showcase of recipes that use these products and the approach of the customer to local producers and proximity stores to not depend on intermediaries and thus, in a global rate, significantly reduce the carbon footprint emitted by the transport of the products.

Our Process / What We Did

After the initial brainstorming that led us to the idea of our MVP, we did research to discover our user persona. This way we made sure that millennials are the generation that spends the most money on eco products, especially when they have a child or are planning to have one. With this information we conducted a dozen personal interviews with potential users, millennials with different styles and life goals in order to try to understand their approach to responsible consumption.

Our insights were quite enlightening: generally millennials have a lot of awareness of the environmental impact of their food decisions and shopping habits, but the accelerated pace of life and stress of this causes them to put these thoughts aside and live day to day. This changed radically in the interviewees who had children: they were especially concerned about giving them a balanced diet and using ecological and less impactful products on the environment "to be able to leave my children a better world".

After debating and studying the best way to apply the information architecture, we decided to divide the core of our product into 4 main components: information about seasonal products that are in force in each season of the year, the best recipes to use them and contact with local producers and proximity stores to reduce the number of intermediaries. Likewise, to encourage that food is not wasted, we implemented a function so that the user could put the products available and offer recipes for making the most of those foods that sometimes are thrown away in the fridge or pantry.

We chose two main colors for our screens, Olive (#657C5E) and Mandarine (#E59A49), looking for colors close to nature and with that ecological aesthetic.

Preference configuration is one of our most important parts in the product: it’s where users, in addition to their lifestyle and possible intolerances, indicate to us what type of products they usually have at home to give them recipes directed to them, personalized and interesting.

Likewise, we opted for clean and cared screens, which gave all the possible information at a glance and in a clear and concise way.
